If you have watched movies … any movie with CG elements … in the last five years you’ve undoubtedly have seen something that the program ZBrush has created. It’s not a simple 3D software … it’s .. well .. really hard to explain.
“ZBrush 3.1 gives you access to unparalleled power and control previously unknown in digital art creation software. Controls enable sculptors to create with a stylus and a tablet as intuitively as if they were using their hands on a block of clay. ZBrush further extends the creation experience, harnessing technology and providing artists with a multitude of creation-enhancing tools.”
Good an confused? Well, here is the introduction video to the newer version of ZBrush:
Now, previously I’ve given you programs that where free - sadly this is far from it. It’s not thousands of dollars like 3D Studio Max or Maya, but it’s still not inexpensive. Running at a cool $600, it can lighten your wallet, but not bankrupt you.
Movies like ‘I Am Legend’ and ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ utilized this fantastic program. Also, games like ‘Assasins Creed’, ‘Hellgate: London’ and ‘Uncharted’ also got ‘Zbrushed’.
If you’re serious about design and really want to get into the next industrial standard, you may want to snag yourself a copy of ZBrush.
