on Apr 15th, 2008100th post!
So, this is my 100th post on this website. And I have to say, I’m surprised I got this far this quickly. I’m not that brainy of a guy, and I don’t really think I have that much to say in general but somehow I managed to get this far, this quickly. Go me!
I started my online ‘journaling’ on Xanga. It was a nice place to start and make ‘my mark’ and I made some actual, real life, friends there. Jon, Mary, Sarah, Chris … all friends that I met online via Xanga. Chris, so you know, was also a guitarist for my band GreyHalo back in the day. He spent his 18th birthday with my family in Ohio … it was cool. I also made a lot of online friends over the time, too many to list. I’ve lost touch with a majority of them, sadly. Most people don’t stay around Xanga long. A lot of them moved to MySpace or Facebook. Some just said ’screw weblogs’ and left the internet all together.
I’ll tell you a secret - there are handful of people I used to chat with a LOT and I miss that. Two in particular chatted me up left and right. Dominic and Jessica. Dominic is in Philadelphia and I believe is a geek in jock form. We’d make up stories like mad. We had planned on doing an industrial/metal band and had bought gas masks and taken crazy pictures in hopes of something cool - but it fell apart fast. He got a new job that took up a slew of his time and he soon left all things internet. I believe he is, or will be, married soon.
Jessica also talked to me like mad. She is a total hardcore chick. Tattoos and everything. We’d talk about everything and anything and she was one of the first people we told when we found out Carolyn was pregnant with Aidan. She had always given sound advice and lots of silly, geek humor. I believe she was secretly in love with me .
So, here’s to new friends and lost friends and my 100th post!
Cheers!
