on Jul 24th, 2008A new chapter on cowardly calls
One night standers and cowards rejoice! Now you don’t have to ‘man up’ when you want to break off a relationship! You can get around that responsible and respectful call by using Slydial. This handy little service will allow you to call someone’s voice mail directly, by passing completely the phone itself, so you can break up with their voice mail, rather than doing it ‘face-to-face’.
Ok, call me old fashion. Call me crazy. But I remember a day when if you wanted to dump someone you did it face-to-face or on the phone. Not in a text message, voice mail or other means that removes you from any responsibility or guilt. It also removes any worries of answering questions and having to give honest answers to those inquiries that you really fear are going to be asked.
To be honest, it’s cowardly and just makes being a ‘playa’ easier.
Way to lower the bar, Slydial. Lame. Just .. lame.
WOW, that is lame, call me even more fashion, but when i was young the only way to do it was, in person face to face,no phone call or text.
but i like how you put: “To be honest, it’s cowardly and just makes being a ‘playa’ easier.”
The cellphone has ruined what little manners the 20 something set might have had. Ever try to hold a conversation with one of these younglings? If their phone rings they do not even excuse themselves while talking to you. They turn away and answer the phone like whatever it is, is obviously more important than the real world.
I was out to dinner the other nite and observed a table of 10, five couples all seated at dinner together. Not one of them was talking to their dinner partners or even each other. They all were texting someone who is not even there and ignoring each other. Real sad what the next generation has degenerated into.
When I was younger, a man was not considered a man if he didn’t have the guts to break off a relationship in person… then again, it was mostly the women breaking off the relationships anyway. LoL
@Chris Lang: Honestly, I’ve seen people from all ages and walks of life do exactly the same thing, not just 20-somethings. It seems that people think that a cell phone is another person at the table.
Personally, I have my cell on my all the time but only answer it if it’s my wife or someone I know and only then do I excuse myself and walk away from the table or wherever I am to answer it. Kind of rude otherwise, I think.
@John: Agreed John. People who try and break up without at LEAST calling and talking on the phone I think are cowards and shouldn’t date until they get some scruples.
