I never really was one for using tools to help me manage my site. It always felt like cheating for some unknown reason. However, hindsight, it’s probably a good idea to use some soft of 3rd party tool to get me rolling.

Weblob Tools Collection has a few links in Top 10 Tools to Get Blogging Done that give bloggers nice tools to get things rolling.

Right now I’m using Windows Live Writer. Trying it out. There are some nice features, but I’m not sure if I really .. LIKE it or not.

People area also talking up ScribeFire … which I may look into after this. We’ll see what works the best for me. Really, in the end, use what works the best for you.

For instance, I use a lot of WordPress Plugins. 28 to be exact. Not all are for functionality, but all are used.

Ok, I decided to put on the brave face and update my WordPress installation. I was running 2.3.3 pretty nicely and was really worried my plugins wouldn’t work and I would lost all the ‘work’ I put into this site. But, so far - it’s still running nicely. I have to say the admin area is smoother than I anticipated. They dropped some of the ugliness of the previous design. I’m pretty happy with that.

I need to get used to this admin.

All in all I think it’s pretty nice. I’m not entirely sure what the point of the upgrade was for, but hey, I’m on it and rockin it now. All plugs are working and all is well in Tadd land.

Smashing Magazine has been the single greatest find for me in a while. It always has great, inspiring posts and articles. Their theme posts are never tiresome. There are some amazing looking themes in these.

Also check out Weblog Tools Collection, who regularly post some new themes. Some are outstanding! The most recent post has some really nice layouts available.

You can find free themes all over the internet. Some are really good themes. Others are … well, let us say that there are some that are not so good.

To end the post, let me give you a slew of links to check out for your WordPress themes need. I haven’t dug through these links, so I appologize if there is anything … questionable … within.

The ‘WordPress weekly digest 4th - 9th March 2008‘ shows that it is possible (if not probable) that WordPress can expect another delay for their 2.5 release. No doubt this will throw people in yet another comment frenzy about ‘oh how unprofessional’ and junk about all the ‘hype’ and so on.

I’m not looking forward to see all that jazz. Really, as Peter Westwood stated, “It’s done when it’s done

I hope that people remember how much they’re paying for WordPress. $0. And if they ARE paying for WordPress … well they don’t deserve to complain.

Really, why complain about an update? It’s not like your site will crash, burn and become an episode of Tellitubbies just because you can’t update to the newest and shiniest edition. My rule of thumb, “If it’s ain’t broke don’t fix it”.
