… and apparently Y2K killed him.

merrychristmas

Rest in piece fat man. Rest in piece.

This actually does bring a question. To tell, or not to tell, you children about Santa Claus/Easter Bunny/Tooth Fairy. I mean, let’s look at it realistically: There is none of those fantastical creatures anymore than unicorns or elves. However, billions of people convince their innocent children that they exist. Why? So that children are good. So they don’t freak out when they loose a tooth.

However, doesn’t this build a mistrust? Could this be one of the stems for which atheism exists? Little Johnny learns that there is no Santa Claus, he then thinks "If Santa isn’t real, than God must not be either .." Hey, I thought it when I was young. It was odd to me how my folks where so into the Santa thing. And people everywhere play it up like a religion.

Does this damage a child’s trust in things unseen? I think it does. While fun to pretend, I don’t think Santa is going to be part of our Christmas. There is no bunny for Easter. And the tooth fairy? Come on … who in their right mind would really think telling a kid that some lady is going to come take their teeth while they sleep and leave a quarter is a good idea?

In the spirit of confusing the crap out of people, I found this tutorial and honestly, it was a good tutorial. Explains some elements in CSS that I had no clue what they meant. So, when searching through www.pixel2life.com I found this tutorial.

Learn how to make a SIMPLE layout then code it up in Dreamweaver
Very well done. Written by HV-Designs, which seems to have some slick stuff on it.

Here they have a good handful of CSS/HTML tutorials. Very nice.

Former fighter pilot reaches 186 miles an hour during first public flight

fusion_manSome people go fishing on their day off. Yves Rossy likes to jump out of a small plane with a pair of jet-powered wings and perform figure eights above the Swiss Alps.

Rossy, 48, made his first public flight with his self-made flying contraption in front of the world press Wednesday, after five years of training and many more years of dreaming.

There are many things from the movies I always hoped would become a reality in life. A rocket pack was one of them. Seriously, how cool is it to think about? Rocketeer, while being a Disney B-movie, was completely awesome in ideas. Not to mention to STILL see things like this in comic books and movies. Iron Man, while not really a rocket pack, only perpetuated the dream.

Killer. That’s what I say. Can I have one?

I do a fair bit of reading. Nothing like some people would do - such as reading Biblical commentaries for recreation - but I do read a lot. I sift through articles on line, read ‘Daily Bread‘ (devotional from RBC Ministries) as well as random things from around the internet. I’ve also read some booklets that Bible Doctrines to Live By released, as well as some small booklets that people just GAVE us that I was allowed to take home.

The other day I read something from an author - who’s name escapes me. He mentioned his weakness when it comes to really doing the will of God. It’s an issue and idea that has plagued my mind and heart for years. Literally.

Am I really as serious about my walk with God as I claim to be?

I ask myself this question, and dig deep. If God really wanted me to go to … Zimbabwe … would I be willing to go? Would I be willing to be a paster? Would I be willing to be a traveling evangelist?

These are things I told myself I never wanted to do. However, do I have the right, as a Christian, to decide that I will or will not do XYZ? Am I willing to go anywhere and be anything God wants me to?

It really is amazing how you think you’re dedicated until you get down to it. I’ve been offered to be a pastor in the past, and didn’t want to do it. Was that a smart choice? Well, maybe. But was it a GODLY choice? That remains to be seen. The opportunity has passed.

After all God has done for me … what had I done for Him?

Getting a grip on God’s great and loving investment in us should motivate us to gladly consider making His sacrifice rich in dividends. How is that return on His investment measured? By living to bring glory to Him! Our eyes, hands, feet, thoughts, dreams, and desires have been purchased to reflect the wondrous glory of God’s will and wisdom. In other words, we are no longer our own.

Paul concluded (in I Corinthians 6:20), “Therefore glorify God in your body” (v.20). Living to reflect His glory is the return on investment that makes the Owner of our lives look good!  — Joe Stowell [LINK TO ARTICLE]

I love Tim Burton movies. They have this dark charm to them that just really appeals to me. Even Blockbuster wanna-be movies like ‘Planet of the Apes’ had a nice feel. However, whilst reading around on Needcoffee.com a mention was made about Burton’s films:

“Burton’s films are never, ever hard to look at. As long as you’re good with pale people wearing lots of black.” [link]

And sure enough, anything I thought of was black or grays with red/brown accents … which I love naturally … but it made me chuckle all the same.

I’m both excited and scared to see his rendition of Alice in Wonderland. Yes, you heard right - 2010 is Burton’s Alive. Scary, eh?
